You have decided to start adding pages to your website. Before you go creating pages, there are 3 questions to ask yourself about your page that are crucial to the success of your website. These questions are too often left unaddressed, resulting in websites with many pages, and little quality content.

Does this page have a reason for being? There should be no pointless pages on your website. Each page must provide some piece of useful information, allow the user to a perform task, or download a file. Don’t create pages that you feel like you need because everyone else has them. Make pages to better serve your visitors. It is much better to have a few useful pages than hundreds of useless ones

Do my users have any options to choose from on this page? Keeping the number of options to a minimum while still allowing the user free range to execute all desired tasks from anywhere in the interface is key to successful web design. Important links should not be hidden, but the number of links should not be overwhelming either. It is very important to strike a balance between clutter and a lack of options.

What action do I want users to take on this page? Your website is made to perform a function for you or your business. It is meant to incite each visitor to take some sort of action: call you, request a quote, send you a message, or come see you in person. Make sure that these calls to action are clear on every page and are relevant to the content on each page.
